What did this shoot mean to you?
I wanted to step away from the “have to” aspect of my job for a minute. I carry a lot of weight and expectation into each of my sessions & weddings. I love photography and creating beauty, but sometimes it’s easy to fall into the same patterns when posing clients because you want to make sure you do what you know works. For this shoot, I wanted to just shoot for a minute. I love femininity, composition… and how they can merge together. LaJerrica is incredibly beautiful — her confidence and unique look made the whole concept come together!
What did you discover?
I enjoyed shooting some direct flash for this. I also used my widest lens to capture the detail of the gowns. I enjoy the way shadows work in these images to highlight LaJerrica’s natural glow. Dionne, from Happily Ever After Bridal, supplied the most incredible & dramatic gowns. It wouldn’t have been possible without her support!
